My condolences to Kevin and Valerie’s family. I grew up down the road from Val and still remember her babysitting for us. Later, as a student and then a teacher at SHS, I always looked forward to seeing her welcoming smile in House 3/the Career Center. She, as much as anyone in Shelton schools, made life better for students on a daily basis. However, I will always remember her best as the girl from the neighborhood and I remember her well.

You will be missed by so many who loved you very dearly. We all relied on you’re beautiful smile and the way you seemed to put life into perspective with a few simple words to get us through the day. Let us keep your strength in our hearts as we mourn this great loss. We love you!!!

Val. Our beloved Val. There are absolutely no words to express what a loss this is. You were everything to all of us SHS “lost ones”. Thank you for all our girl talks. Every time you made up for what our homes were missing. The heart of Shelton High. We love you. Love you. Love you. It is my sincere hope that the what I imagine tremendous support and love that we are sending your way, helps your family through this. A good life. Paradise awaits.

Dear Mr Bysczynski & family,
From my family to yours we like to extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to you all.
Miss Val was like extended family to us all and a huge part of our daughter Maddy’s life, both Maddy and Val looked forward their morning ritual hugs and I loved getting emails from her telling me how much she loved our little bean... That’s our daughters nickname, which Val so loving adopted and starting calling Maddy bean too. I am in complete and utter shock and still cannot believe it. Long Hill School is going to be a ghost town without miss Val.. I’m going to miss her laugh, her warm welcoming smile and her amazing hugs... I miss her so much and will continue to for as long as I live... My family were the lucky ones to have Val in our lives. I’ll miss all her emails and just funny conversations about really nothing at all... She was/is an amazing person and had a huge impact on all three of us. Val wasn’t just a secretary who enjoyed working with children,. She enjoyed making them happy and having an impact on their lives, she was a friend and more over family for us and we’re going to miss her terribly. I find comfort knowing that she’ll be watching down and smiling on all that she loved.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers to all of Mrs. Val’s family, friends, students, and all those were touched with her infectious personality. My son has been a student at LHS for the past four years and expressed on many occasions that he hoped she moved on to the next school when he moved on. She was an amazing woman who seemed to have a special bond and knew every students name when they came into that office. The love and kindness that radiated from her is surely going to be missed.
Our deepest sympathies,
Tarasa & Jace Ribas

Val looked over many students over the years and I remember her beautiful smile and always wanting the best for us, I graduated in 1985 and in 2000 needed a copy of my transcripts, she immediately remembered me and when I saw her then, she looked the same. An angel sent for so many children, molding us into fine adults.

My son, Jack is a student at LHS. I am saddened to hear this news, as I saw firsthand whenever I visited how Val interacted with both parents and children. I was lucky enough to be in the office a few times when kids’ birthdays were announced, and they were always so thrilled to see the staff and get their pencils and little gifts in the office on their special day. Our condolences to Val’s family.
