Obituary for Maureen Dishian

Born: Passaic, NJ
Lived: Shelton

Maureen Dishian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at age 86 in the loving care of her son and daughter in law at their residence in Shelton. Maureen was born on November 18, 1933 where she spent her childhood in New Jersey with her late parents Marie and Pat Nolan and her late brother Warren. On a sunny summer day Maureen headed to the beach with some friends and as she lay sun bathing a handsome young man walked over and asked if she could get the score of the game on her radio. From that moment forward Bob and Maureen were inseparable. They married on June 22, 1957 and moved to Bridgeport, CT where Bob started his career at Sikorsky Aircraft and Maureen attended Butler Business School. They gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Gregory Michael Dishian. They soon bought a house in Shelton where she resided for the next 60 years. They enjoyed many family trips as Maureen collected postcards of all the places they visited and they would often take time to visit family in Jersey and of course grab a chili-dog at The Hot Grill on their way home. After the passing of her husband Bob in 2005, she enjoyed spending time with members of their trivia group and stayed active by attending outings to the casino, the movies, or a nice picture as she called it, taking in the local theatre, and going out for a meal with her favorite drink of choice a Manhattan, which was best served in a stem glass with a side of ice. She loved to read, challenger herself with crossword puzzles, and she was always ready to take you on with a words with friends game. Maureen remained young at heart as she loved to spend time with her son, daughter in-law, and grandchildren. She even kept up with the times as she enjoyed going on Facebook and Instagram. In the last few months of her life she was happy to welcome her new great-grandchildren into the family. Maureen leaves behind her son, Greg Dishian and wife Ginger of Shelton, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Courtney Dishian of Shelton, Elizabeth and Robert Seccareccia and daughter Murphy of Shelton, and Brittney Dishian and Josh Tortora and daughter Freya of Trumbull. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Gloria Nolan. A private Graveside service will be held by the family. Due to the coronavirus pandemic her funeral services are private.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton is entrusted with her arrangements. Friends may leave condolences at www.riverviewfh.com.
