Barbara Wilson-Curley, age 67, of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 with her children by her side at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick M. Curley and was the daughter of Susan (Procaccini) Wilson and the late Charles J. Wilson.
Barbara was a graduate of J.M. Wright Technical High School and Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. Over the course of her 40 plus year career as a Registered Nurse she worked for various entities in the both the private and public sector, including but not limited to the State of Connecticut Department of Correction, Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center, Ansonia Public School System, Connecticut Hospice and Edmund J. Strang Boy Scout Reservation. Barbara had an extensive volunteer career as well through her endeavors as an active member in the St. Lawrence Church community. Barbara was a parish nurse, taught CCD for over 35 years, was a member of the Ladies Guild, was a Eucharistic Minister and was a Gardening Angel. Barbara was active in Boy Scouts as a den mother and merit badge instructor. Barbara was an Emergency Medical Technician with Echo Hose Ambulance Corp for over 30 years and was the Assistant Advisor to the Echo Hose Explorer Post 127. Barbara was also very active in the American Legion and served as a Past President of the Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 Ladies Auxiliary.
In what little free time Barbara had, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends whether at the Concerts on the Green or activities at the Shelton Senior Center, traveling across the state or across the country, maintaining her garden of fruits and vegetables, reading novels or periodicals, knitting or crocheting various items as gifts or for fundraising efforts and listening to various genres of music, including but not limited to, Elvis Presley and The Carpenters.
Barbara is the cherished mother of Robert and Carol Curley. She is also survived by her sister Arlene (Wilson) Greene, sisters in law Ruth Curley-Lefebvre and Mary Curley Power, brothers in law Victor Greene and Wayne Power, two nieces Michelle Greene and Kelly Whitman, a nephew Scott Power and countless extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to greet Barbara’s family on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, CT. On Saturday, March 30, 2019 her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton, CT.
