Helene Osuch Pacowta “Honey” of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Shelton, CT died peacefully at The Hospice House of Englewood, FL on December 20, 2017. She was the wife of the late Samuel Pacowta for 63 yrs. For the last 6 years, she enjoyed living in Florida.
Born in Ansonia, CT in 1928, she was the youngest daughter of the late Salomea & Edward Osuch. She attended Assumption School and Ansonia High School. She is survived by two children, Donald Pacowta & his wife, Belinda of Shelton and Christine Twerion & her husband, Dan of Punta Gorda, FL. She was predeceased by her son, Tom. She leaves four beloved grandchildren, Kelly Iacovacci & her husband, Mike of NY, Lisa Pacowta of Arizona, Don Twerion of FL & Steve Twerion & his wife, Jessica also of FL. The family would also like to acknowledge her loving caregiver and good friend, Betty Penney and her husband, Bob of FL.
She was predeceased by her brother, Henry Czelusniak & four sisters, Bernice Zalenski, Estelle Supranovich, Jennie Kwochka & Loretta Kichard. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Helene was employed by the VNA of the Valley, as a HHA for over 25 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed travelling with her husband and volunteering at the Griffin Hospital. She was a member of the Shelton & Derby Senior Centers, the Interfaith Volunteers group, the American Russian Club of Shelton, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for St Joseph’s Church, Shelton. She was a proud contributor to the Shelton Bicentennial Quilt, creating one of the 44 patches. Since moving to FL, she volunteered at The Cultural Center of Port Charlotte and worked with the Tatting Craft group. She sold her Tatted Cards & Creations at Craft Shows both in CT & FL for many years. Helene will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Friends may greet her family on Friday January 19, 2018 from 8 to 9:30 AM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. At 9:45 AM her funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church Shelton. Her burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Shelton.
