Joy Amy Kulmann, age 79, of Shelton entered into rest on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. She was the beloved wife of 37 years of William C. Kulmann. Joy was born in Bridgeport on November 9, 1938, daughter of the late William Z. and Mary (Hulford) Kramer. She lived in Shelton for over 40 years after being raised in Bridgeport.
Joy worked as a purchasing agent for Unilever in Trumbull before her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an active volunteer with TEAM, the Friends of the Library, and a the Unilever Credit Union. Joy was a devoted wife and mother, and was most proud of her cherished grandchildren.
She is the beloved mother of Corey Firmender and his wife Joan, and Lynne Firmender, and step-mother of Bill Kulmann, and Brian Kulmann and his wife Valerie, and step daughter-in-law Angela Kulmann. She leaves five cherished grandchildren, Leah, Nathan, Nora, Drew, and Bradley, two brothers, William and Ken Kramer, a sister, Lili Kramer,, and several nieces and nephews. Joy was predeceased by a stepson, Jaret Kulmann.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Thursday her funeral service will be at the funeral home beginning at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
